Matthew 3:7-12 - Is it just a heaven and hell analogy for the individual or the national judgement that came upon Israel in 70 A.D.?

As a Christian who serves a non-violent Jesus, how do we maintain respect for veterans and soldiers who are committing murder in the name of the USA? Should we respect those who are fighting for American freedom? 

In 1 Corinthians 6:9, is Paul referring to the 'kingdom' now in this life or the 'kingdom' of Heaven?
